During November 2017 over 300 clients across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole took part in our Digital Access Survey. This survey has been conducted in response to the UK Digital Strategy 2017 published in March 2017. The Strategy has been developed in order to improve digital access across Britain.

Local offices across Dorset worked together to get an idea of how digital exclusion affects people in our local areas. The study showed that 1 in 4 respondents did not have regular access to the internet at home, of those 4 in 10 would like regular access.

Conclusions and recommendations were made, such as increasing peoples’ skills and knowledge so that they can gain confidence and become digitally active.  In addition, suggestions were made to reduce the cost of internet access in homes across Dorset and increase access for those in the rural parts of the County.
